Dragon Hearts (D.O.A. Book 1) Page 8
Rene pushed his wet finger into Bren's hole and Bren completely lost the fight, "Fuck!"
Cum shot from Bren's dick and down Rene's throat in large spurts. Rene never stopped as he drank down Bren's seed until there was no more left to swallow.
Seemingly unhurried, Rene slid up Bren's softening shaft and began to unzip his own pants. Azul took that moment to appear next to Bren and Rene.
Bren gasped and quickly covered himself, "What the fuck, Azul? This is so not the time."
Rene growled but Azul refused to leave as he looked at Rene angrily shaking his head.
"Damn it maharishi, we were in the middle of something." Rene snapped.
Azul bent and picked Bren up, placing him on his feet and the pointing his long-clawed finger towards Rene.
Rene opened his mouth to say something and then turned to Bren. His eyes had widened, then he rasped, "What did I almost do? Damn, Azul, thank you for stopping me from possibly making one of the biggest mistakes of my life."
Bren's eyes widened, "What the fuck! Seriously?"
Feeling exposed, Bren quickly buttoned his shirt, zipped, and fastened his pants then straightened himself enough so he could leave without anyone knowing what had just happened.
Turning, Bren was not prepared for Rene to grab and lift him to turn him back around, "No, Bren, you don't understand. I want to do this. By the Gods, there isn’t anything more I want than to make love to you, but we can't. If we have intercourse, we will be mated. You will be my sentience in every possible way.
Bren's anger immediately left him. Cupping Rene's cheek, Bren whispered, "What if I’m okay with that? What if I want you as my mate, Rene?"
Shaking his head, Rene softly said, "Not until you know what that means, Bren."
"It means we spend the rest of our lives together. I think I might like that." Bren said with all the emotion he was feeling.
Shaking his head then looking away, Rene said, "If you choose me, Bren, then that means you choose only me."
Bren pulled back asking, "What does that mean?"
Rene looked at Bren with pain in his eyes, saying, "It would mean that you would have to give up your practice, all your friends, hell, your very existence."
"What the fuck?" Bren gasped.
Nodding, Rene said, "You have to understand, D.O.A. is a secret, Bren. We can't risk the outside world knowing of our existence. Eagle looked up information about our sentience, one of the things he found says that your life span will match mine, you will stop aging. If you, Azul, or I die, we all will die. You will heal from injuries at a rapid pace. Jude is a doctor, he will notice that anomaly. Your friends will get grey hair, while you will not. They will die, again you will not. Bren, I'm sorry, but to be with me and Azul, means that you must give up the life and people you know."
"So, let me get this right. You come into my life, make me fall in love with you, then tell me "Oh, by the way, if you agree to be mine you have to give up your world." How the fuck is that fair?"
"I know──"
"What, Rene? What do you know? From my side, I don't see you having to give up shit!" Bren backed away, rasping, "I am expected to give up everything and you give up nothing? Seriously? That is bullshit. You know it and I know it. I gotta go."
Bren turned, making his way to his car, with Rene fast on his trail, "Bren, let's talk about this."
Shaking his head, "I can't right now, Rene. I need to get out of here."
Bren saw the guys standing outside the house, Taj standing there with his arms crossed looking stoic as ever. Pissed and hurt, Bren snapped, "Are you happy now, Taj? I'm leaving and from what I was just told, I doubt if I will be back. You're finally rid of this human."
Azul flew in front of Bren, looking anxious and sad. As he went to transfer, Bren yelled, "No, Azul!"
Azul stopped and was once more standing in front of Bren. Bren went to the dragon, softly saying, "Can you bring your face closer to mine, Azul?"
Azul hesitated a moment then slowly did as he asked. Bren rubbed his hand gently over the massive snout, whispering, "I don't know if I can come back, Azul, but I need you to do me a favor. Keep Rene safe. He's a good man and he does good things." Bren softly kissed Azul’s cheek, saying low enough that only he could hear, "I love you both. Take care of each other."
With those words, Bren got in his car and left.
"Earth to Bren! Earth to Bren!"
Jarred out of his thoughts, Bren whipped his head around, looking at Jude. "What? Did you say something?"
Jude turned to Rylee, "See, I told you. Our Bren is in luuuuv."
"Jude, back off. Bren, are you alright?" Rylee asked.
Bren couldn't lie to his friends, "I don't think so, Rylee."
"If you miss him, call him." Rylee said, talking about Rene.
Shaking his head, Bren rasped, "I wish it were that easy."
Jude sat up, all joking aside, saying, "Bren, if you talked to us we might be able to help."
Sighing, Bren replied, "I really like him." Snorting, Bren whispered, "Who am I kidding? I love him. He's funny and romantic. He'd take every opportunity he could to touch me and make me feel as if I were the most important person in the world. He's smart and such a gentleman. Holds doors open, pulls out my chair. He would listen when I talk and we could talk about all kinds of things."
"Then why did you dump him?" Jude asked.
Bren looked at Jude, "How do you know he didn't dump me?"
Shaking his head, Jude replied, "Because that man is just as in love with you as you are with him."
Setting his beer to the side, Bren whispered, "Yes, well, that's over now."
"I don't get you, Bren. Why are you dumping him when you should be taking this relationship to the next level? We both know you aren't a virgin. What is holding you back?" Rylee asked with his typical soft, nurturing way.
Bren wanted so bad to tell his friends. He needed their advice on what to do. Bren was feeling ripped apart inside. He missed Rene and Azul, but he knew he couldn't give up his best friends──hell his brothers, sister, and mother. He just couldn't do it.
"Bren? Are you crying?" Rylee asked, rushing to Bren and kneeling in front of him.
Bren looked up into Rylee's eyes, "I hurt, Ry. I hurt so bad."
Rylee took Bren in his arms as he cried. Heartbroken and feeling more alone than he had ever felt in his life, Bren could do nothing but cry.
CHAPTER ELEVEN
"There you are, Pit. I've been looking everywhere for you." Cameron said, panting as if he had run a marathon.
Pit sighed internally, tossing another rock into the pond. "What do you want, Cam?"
"Taj asked me to find you and let you know that you guys were supposed to meet with the new FBI liaison." Cameron answered.
A large splash had Pit drawing back to miss getting wet. Turning to his right, Azul sighed and tossed another boulder into the lake. "Azul, smaller rocks, please."
Sniffling, Azul dropped the boulder he was holding and picked one up about the size of a brick, and tossed it into the lake. "Sorry." Azul sadly whispered in his mind.
"No, my friend. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have snapped. You are hurting just as badly as I am." Pit replied to Azul.
"Pit, Taj said──"
"Tell him to take Gunner. I don't feel like talking to the new guy right now." Pit said, tossing another rock.
Cam sat next to Pit, "I'm sorry about Bren. Wiz told me what happened."
Pit stopped mid toss, turned to Cameron, "Wiz has a big mouth."
"You want me to eat him?" Azul asked.
Turning towards his dragon friend, Pit asked, "Who? Cameron?"
"No, Wiz."
Pit smirked at the image, but replied, "No, D.O.A. needs him"
"Wiz just wanted to talk to someone. He and the guys are really worried about you. We all are, Pit."
"Thanks Cameron." Pit replied.
When Cameron didn't get up and leave, Pit looked at the young man, ready to tell him
to leave him the fuck alone. He and Azul were in mourning. Their mate had refused them. Tossed them away like they were nothing. He didn't refuse you, asshole. He refused to leave his entire world for your mating. Bren was right. It wasn't fair. Bren shouldn't have to give up everything for love and Rene didn't have to give up anything, but what did Bren want him to do? He couldn't change the past. It was written for a reason.
"Can I say something, Pit?" Cameron asked.
Shrugging, Pit replied, "Sure."
"When you brought me here, I was lost and had nowhere to go. I had no family, no friends. I was alone. It is a horrible existence and trust me, that is all you do──exist. You guys saw me living in the streets and took me in. You guys and everyone in Drago are my family, Pit."
Pit remembered the day they had found Cameron. They were after a serial rapist and Gunner's maharishi had been flying over the area the fucktard had made his playground. Hearing a scream, Gunner was summoned by his dragon and they had rushed to the location. Two men were in a scuffle and a woman lay on the ground with her clothes torn, crying. It was clear the smaller man was losing, but he would not stop fighting. That man was Cameron. He had been in a dumpster looking for food, when he heard a man telling someone if they screamed or moved, he would kill them. Cameron had looked out and saw a man tearing a woman's clothing as she fought to stop what was happening. Not considering his own safety, Cameron quietly climbed from the dumpster and jumped the guy. When the man was arrested and taken away, that is when Cameron whispered to Gunner not to worry, he would not tell a soul about the dragon. Not wanting to kill him, he and his men agreed to bring Cameron with them to Drago. He was an amazing young man and a great friend to everyone in Drago. Pit didn't know of a man or woman that didn't love Cameron.
"You're like a little brother to us, too." Pit replied.
"Thank you, but I wasn't finished. If someone asked me to give you guys up, even if it was for true love, I don't think I could. Love shouldn't be about choosing my family or my lover. Love is supposed to be about sharing everything and everyone in your lives. I know you guys have a code and I would never dream of exposing it, but if Bren trusts his friends and family, then don't you think that you should, too?"
Pit let out a deep breath, saying, "That's how they did it, Cam. I can't change history."
Cam snorted, "None of us can change history, Pit. However, what Eagle found in the archives were not laws. It's how they did things back then. This was suggested back in the days when they burned a woman they didn't like, accusing her of being a witch. I mean, we are talking hundreds of years ago. Talk to your D.O.A. members. There has to be a way to fix this so you can have your mate."
Shaking his head, Pit replied, "I've done nothing but try and think of an alternative, Cameron. I've got nothing."
Cameron became uncharacteristically angry, "That's bullshit, Pit. Bren is your mate and that means he is worth more than sitting here while you and Azul have a pity party. I agree with Bren. You want him to give up everything, yet you are not willing to give up anything. You want him to trust you and your friends, but you don't want to give him that same trust."
"What are you talking about?" Pit asked in offense.
"The answer is simple to me. Tell his friends your secret." Cameron stated firmly.
Pit could not believe what Cameron was suggesting, "You know I can't do that."
"If you trust your mate you can. If Bren says that his friends would keep your secret, Pit, then why could you not trust he knows his friends? If you tell them, Bren doesn't have to give up his job. If you provide a guard outside his clinic, he doesn't have to give up his work. He might be open to splitting his practice between here and there. The thing is, there are alternatives, but it requires you to be willing to meet Bren halfway." Cameron said as he stood up. "I'll go let Taj know that he should take Gunner with him."
Once Cameron left, Pit turned to Azul, "Do you think the kid is right? Should we tell his friends?"
"I think we should talk to Taj and the others first, Pit. This would affect them as well."
"True, but it might work. Bren wouldn't have to give up his family and friends if they knew our secret, but then again, we don't really know them either, Azul. They could accidentally let our secret out."
Azul let out what sounded like a snort, as smoke came out of his nostrils, "Pit, you can't be serious. How would something like that even come up? A guy comes up asking," It is unexplainable, but Azul lowered the tone of his voice in Pit's head, "Would you like to dance?" Giving a higher pitch, "Did I tell you my best friend is the mate to a man over five hundred years old and has a dragon for a guardian?"
Pit pursed his lips, "You don't have to be so sarcastic."
"I don't have to be so gorgeous either, but as with my sarcasm, it comes naturally to me."
The sounds of footsteps had Pit turning around. Surprisingly it was his men. "Is there a problem? Was there another murder?"
Shaking his head, Wiz answered, "No, we're here to talk to you, Pit. We're worried about you and want to help."
Sighing, Pit stood up, brushing off the grass and dirt, "I know I've not been myself, but I'm working on fixing that."
Wiz elbowed Taj, he gave Wiz a dirty look then said, "I'm sorry I made your sentience feel unwelcome, Pit. It was not my intent. I know that with Bren in our lives, this means change and as you know, I'm not very good with that."
Eagle cleared his throat, saying, "I looked everywhere in our logs about finding our mates. There is very little in there other than what I already told you. However, what I did notice was that it was written as if the mating would be between a man and a woman. Nowhere is it written about a male to male mating."
"So, what are you saying? We aren't supposed to even have same sex mates?" Pit snapped.
"No! Not at all, Pit." Eagle quickly said.
Cobra pushed Eagle back, saying, "What numb nuts is trying to say is think back to when this was written. Men thought that women were weak both physically and emotionally. They weren't allowed to go to school or hold a job that was more than what would be required for housework. Women had to be taken care of, whether by their father or brothers or their husband when they married."
"What the hell does this have to do with Bren?" Pit asked in annoyance.
Rolling his eyes, Nautical said, "It means that when they said a mate had to give up everything so that D.O.A. could continue on unhindered, it was not considering that the mate might be a man. It was written as it would be for a woman of those times. Hell, even if Bren was a Brenda, in today's times, she would tell you to shove your mating up your ass."
"The writing is too outdated, Pit." Cobra stated.
Pit was shocked when Casper, who rarely ever talked, said, "We want to include Bren's friends in on our secret."
Pit looked at Azul in shock. Azul returned one of hope. Turning back to his friends, Pit asked, "Are you sure?"
Taj sighed, "I have to admit, I don't like it and I would rather meet his friends first. However, if your mate trusts them to keep their mouth shut, then yes, we want to try."
"I only met Steph and she seemed like a nice lady. She is very troubled, but considering the loss of her son, it is understandable. She is smart and a nice person. You met his other friends, what are they like?" Sparky asked.
Pit thought about the day Bren had introduced him to Jude and Rylee. He smiled, saying, "Rylee is shy and very quiet. Surprising since he is a lawyer. However, Jude is the exact opposite. He has no problem telling you what he thinks. He does not pussy foot around, he just says it and to hell if you don't like what he is telling you."
"What does that mean? Would he just tell someone about us and our maharishis?" Boomer asked.
Shaking his head, Pit replied, "No, I don't think he would." Thinking a moment, Pit said, "When Bren introduced me to Jude, he said, "Damn, if it's true about feet and dicks, Bren is a lucky man."
Everyone but Myst and Casper laughed. Solo asked, "What did you tell him
?"
Rene smiled, "I told Jude that Bren was a very lucky man."
Taj made a noise through the others laughter, getting Pit's attention. "I cancelled our appointment with Stone, and we are ready to head out to Bren's when you are."
"Stone?" Pit asked in confusion.
"Stone Weisner, the new FBI guy." Wiz said with an eye roll.
Pit looked at Taj, "And Stone was okay with the cancelation?"
"No, and when he tried to argue I told him I didn't give a fuck what he thought, that my friend was in trouble and that took precedence over a meeting with him. I hung up and that was that as far as I was concerned." Myst replied with a smirk.
Feeling blessed to have such great friends, Pit replied, "Thanks guys. I appreciate your willingness to go out on a limb so I can bring my mate home."
"It isn't a done deal. Like I said, I want to meet these friends. Then and only then will I make my final decision." Taj stated.
Looking at Casper, "And you?"
"I'm going." Casper answered.
"Well then, let's get the hell out of here." Pit said with a smile.
As they went to leave, Wiz yelled, "Wait, I have a question."
"What?" Pit asked impatiently. Damn, now that he had a chance with his mate he just wanted to go and find him.
Looking at Azul, Wiz asked, "With you having your maharishi back, why are you not in dragon heat?"
"Azul has not joined with me. He has stayed in his physical form since Bren left." Pit answered.
"So, I assume Azul is going with you?" Wiz asked.
"Of course, Bren is his mate as well." Pit answered not understanding where this was going.
Wiz looked at the others and then at Pit nervously, "Are you going to be okay? I mean, he can't very well fly next to you, so that means he's going to have to join with you to see Bren."
Pit looked at Azul, his dragon saying, "He's right, Rene. If I go with you, I will have to join. This will bring the dragon heat back."
"It can't be helped, Azul. You cannot stay behind. Bren is your mate as well. You deserve to be there." Pit answered.
